HLS 15RS-1284 ORIGINAL 2015 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 144 BY REPRESENTATIVE SMITH SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Designates Tuesday, June 2, 2015, as Louisiana School Psychological Association Day at the state capitol 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2To designate Tuesday, June 2, 2015, as Louisiana School Psychological Association Day at 3 the state capitol and to commend the Louisiana School Psychological Association 4 for its many contributions to students and schools throughout the state. 5 WHEREAS, school psychologists help to increase the achievement of students and 6schools by addressing learning barriers and determining the best instructional strategies to 7improve learning; and 8 WHEREAS, since the early 1980s, the Louisiana School Psychological Association 9(LSPA) has provided counseling, instruction, mentoring, and behavior intervention support; 10and 11 WHEREAS, LSPA and its members promote wellness and resilience by reinforcing 12communication and social skills, problem solving, anger management, self-regulation, self- 13determination, and optimism; LSPA also strives to promote the enhancement of 14understanding and acceptance of diverse cultures and backgrounds; and 15 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to designate Tuesday, June 2, 2015, as Louisiana 16School Psychological Association Day at the state capitol and to commend the extraordinary 17efforts of LSPA as they support students and schools throughout the state of Louisiana. 18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 19designate Tuesday, June 2, 2015, as Louisiana School Psychological Association Day at the 20state capitol and does hereby commend the LSPA for its many contributions to students and 21schools throughout the state of Louisiana.
