HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 149
BY REPRESENTATIVES ST. GERMAIN, BARROW, HILL, HODGES, JACKSON,
NANCY LANDRY, MORENO, NORTON, SMITH, STOKES, THIERRY,
WHITNEY, AND WOODRUFF AND SENATORS BROOME, BUFFINGTON,
DORSEY-COLOMB, AND PETERSON
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Dr. Tiffany M. Stewart upon her receipt of a 2015 Women of Excellence
Award from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation for her
achievements in the field of Health and Medicine.
WHEREAS, Dr. Stewart received a bachelor of science degree in psychology from
Florida State University in 1996, and in 2002, she received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology
from Louisiana State University; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Stewart completed a residency in clinical psychology at the Medical
University of South Carolina in 2002, and from 2002 until 2004, she served as director of
the Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center inpatient unit eating disorders program;
and
WHEREAS, Dr. Stewart is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Louisiana
and is currently an associate professor at Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton
Rouge where she serves as the director of the Behavior Technology Laboratory: Eating
Disorders and Obesity; and 
WHEREAS, she has a research program that studies body image, eating disorders,
and obesity, with a focus on assessment, treatment, and prevention; she has been a pioneer
in the development and testing of e-health technologies and community-based programs in
order to disseminate prevention and treatment efforts to large populations; and
WHEREAS, another of Dr. Stewart's commendable achievements is spearheading
unique, large, multi-site prevention studies that have included the development and
deployment of novel approaches for health behavior change; this notable work has attracted

multimillion dollar grant funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Department
of Defense to help develop and test programs and conduct studies related to eating disorders
and health behaviors; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Stewart has led the way for further research through her academic
investigation of health behaviors related to body image, eating disorders, obesity, and
women's health; her extensive research has attracted investors and capital to form an
assessment, prevention, and treatment enterprise which employs state-of-the-art methods to
improve the health of individuals and communities; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Stewart is founder and CSO of Body Evolution Technologies,
Incorporated, a venture capital-funded entrepreneurial endeavor based on scientific
discoveries at Pennington Biomedical Research Center and other universities across the
country; and
WHEREAS, she influences individuals outside of her work environment by
dedicating time to teach cycling and yoga classes; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation created the
Women of Excellence Awards to recognize and honor extraordinary women of excellence
across the state for their outstanding achievements and contributions; and
WHEREAS, recipients of the Women of Excellence Awards exhibit characteristics
of integrity and professionalism, personify excellence in their area of specialty, and are
committed to community service to better society as a whole; and
WHEREAS, for 2015, there are six categories for the Women of Excellence Awards:
Business, College Woman of Excellence, Health and Medicine, High School Woman of
Excellence, Louisiana Hero of Excellence, and Nonprofit of Excellence; and
WHEREAS, the recipients of the 2015 Women of Excellence Awards are being
recognized at the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation's Women of
Excellence Awards Gala on Tuesday, May 26, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Stewart has been named a recipient of a 2015 Women of Excellence
Award in the field of Health and Medicine for her accomplishments which demonstrate that
she has truly excelled in the areas of health and medicine and her contributions in these
fields have resulted in the betterment of lives; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Stewart merits a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for
her dedication to excellence and her outstanding accomplishments, and it is entirely
appropriate for the Legislature of Louisiana to commend Dr. Stewart upon her receipt of a
2015 Women of Excellence Award from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus
Foundation and to recognize her vital contributions to the citizens of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Dr. Tiffany M. Stewart upon her receipt of a 2015 Women of Excellence Award
from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation for her achievements in the
field of Health and Medicine; does hereby recognize and record for posterity her singular
contributions to the citizens of Louisiana; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for
the tremendous pride that she brings to her community and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Dr. Tiffany M. Stewart.
