HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 160
BY REPRESENTATIVE JEFFERSON AND SENATOR GAL LOT
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the New Living Word High School boys' track and field
team upon winning the 2015 Class C state championship
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the New Living Word High School boys' track and field team upon winning
3 the 2015 Class C outdoor track and field championship.
4 WHEREAS, the New Living Word High School boys' track and field team completed
5a sensational season, earning the title of 2015 Class C outdoor track and field champions;
6and
7 WHEREAS, the championship win was the second consecutive track and field
8championship for the Lions and the culmination of an unforgettable season; and
9 WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence
10throughout the 2015 track and field season, and each of these great Lions deserves
11recognition for his vital contributions to the winning effort; and
12 WHEREAS, the New Living Word boys' 4x400 meter and 4x100 meter relay teams
13received first place in the competitions; and
14 WHEREAS, Fred Evans placed first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.39
15seconds, and he also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.09 seconds and placed third
16in the long jump competition; and 
17 WHEREAS, Kwantavious Harris placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time
18of 11.56 seconds; and
19 WHEREAS, Javier Roper placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.08
20seconds; and

1 WHEREAS, other top performers for the Lions include Alijwon Mason, who placed
2second in the long jump competition and second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.37
3seconds, Rashaan Proctor, who placed first in the triple jump competition and second in the
4high jump competition, Rontavious Bryant, who placed first in the Class C 400-meter dash
5with a time of 51.46 seconds, and Jeremy Patton, who placed third in the 110-meter dash
6with a time of 52.37 seconds; and
7 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season continues the Lions' winning tradition,
8and all New Living Word High School fans recognize the immense pride and distinguished
9honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state.
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
11commend the New Living Word High School boys' track and field team upon winning the
122015 Class C state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches,
13and everyone involved with this fine track and field program as they celebrate their
14exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
16to the head coach of the New Living Word High School boys' track and field team.
