HLS 15RS-2500 ORIGINAL 2015 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 181 BY REPRESENTATIVE BROADWATER COMMENDATIONS: Commends Larry White upon his retirement from the Louisiana Workforce Commission after forty-eight years of service 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2To commend Larry White upon his retirement from the Louisiana Workforce Commission 3 and to recognize his unwavering passion, dedication, and contributions to the 4 Louisiana Workforce Commission throughout forty-eight years of state public 5 service. 6 WHEREAS, born on June 24, 1947, Larry White is a lifelong resident of Baton 7Rouge, Louisiana; after his graduation from Baton Rouge High School in 1965, Mr. White 8attended Louisiana State University until 1967 when he accepted a position with the 9Louisiana Department of Labor, the predecessor of the Louisiana Workforce Commission; 10and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. White began his career with the Louisiana Workforce Commission 12as a night clerk and progressed through the information technology management department; 13in 1983, he began working as an information technology manager for the Office of Workers' 14Compensation; as the information technology manager, he oversaw significant upgrades to 15the office's data management, including the implementation of the Justware software system 16used by the Office of Workers' Compensation judges; and 17 WHEREAS, in 2009, Mr. White became the deputy director for the Office of 18Workers' Compensation; as deputy director, he serves as the principal advisor to the director 19of the Office of Workers' Compensation and assists the director in many tasks such as 20establishing rules and regulations applicable to workers' compensation claims, hiring and Page 1 of 3 HLS 15RS-2500 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 181 1managing personnel throughout the state, enforcing fraud and compliance initiatives, and 2overseeing the Louisiana Second Injury Fund; and 3 WHEREAS, in the course of his tenure as deputy director, Mr. White has overseen 4the implementation of significant changes including the use of medical treatment guidelines 5for the treatment of injured workers and updates to the workers' compensation medical fee 6schedule; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. White's dynamic leadership and ideas have made him a source of 8knowledge for directors of the Office of Workers' Compensation throughout the years, and 9he has served as the interim director on multiple occasions; and 10 WHEREAS, upon his retirement from the Louisiana Workforce Commission in June 11of 2016, Mr. White will have attained forty-eight years of dedicated and outstanding state 12service; and 13 WHEREAS, in addition to Mr. White's work with the Louisiana Workforce 14Commission, he has served on the board of directors for the LES Federal Credit Union for 15thirty years and currently serves as the president; and 16 WHEREAS, he is the proud father of his son, Allen, and his stepdaughters, Ronnie 17and Treva, and the loving grandfather of five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; 18and 19 WHEREAS, Larry White will remain an inspiration to the Louisiana Workforce 20Commission for the vital contributions he has made during his career of extraordinary public 21service, and he merits the highest commendation and sincerest congratulations for his 22exemplary service and for his unparalleled contributions to the state, whose citizens will long 23reap the benefits of his incomparable legacy of excellence and professionalism. 24 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 25commend Larry White upon his retirement from the Louisiana Workforce Commission; does 26hereby record for posterity his notable accomplishments and the dedicated service he has 27rendered during his highly effective and productive career; and does hereby extend to him 28every good wish for success and happiness in all his future endeavors. 29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted 30to Larry White.
