SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Commends our United States Armed Forces and
recognizes May 2015 as Military Appreciation Month
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the members of the United States Armed Forces for their service and to
3 recognize May 2015 as Military Appreciation Month.
4 WHEREAS, the vigilance of the members of the armed forces has been instrumental
5to the preservation of the freedom, security, and prosperity enjoyed by the people of the
6United States; and
7 WHEREAS, the armed forces are spread around the world in more than one hundred
8fifty countries, protecting American lives and interests, and being forever vigilant that our
9citizens are safe as they travel throughout the world; and
10 WHEREAS, the success of the armed forces depends on the dedicated service of its
11members, their families, and the civilian employees of the Department of Defense; and
12 WHEREAS, service in the armed forces entails special hazards and demands and
13extraordinary sacrifices from service members and their families; and
14 WHEREAS, the observance of events recognizing the many contributions of the
15armed forces is a tangible and highly effective way of sustaining morale, improving quality
16of life for service members and their families, and communicating to our service members
17our vast appreciation for their dedicated and selfless service; and
18 WHEREAS, the month of May, and in particular Memorial Day, being observed this
19year on May 25, is traditionally recognized as a time of honor and recognition of the service
20men and women of this nation's armed forces who have given their lives protecting this
21country's interests.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
2commend all of the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces; does hereby
3recognize that their service and selfless sacrifices are vital to the future of the United States;
4and does hereby proclaim the month of May 2015 as Military Appreciation Month in honor
5of these brave Americans.
