HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 221
BY REPRESENTATIVES BARROW, HODGES, JACKSON, NORTON, SMITH, ST.

COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Miss Universe Organization for bringing the Miss
USA Pageant back to Louisiana in July of 2015
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the Miss Universe Organization for bringing the Miss USA Pageant back to
3 the state of Louisiana in July of 2015.
4 WHEREAS, in July of 2014, the city of Baton Rouge hosted the 2014 Miss USA
5Pageant; the pageant delivered an unprecedented amount of national and international
6exposure for the state of Louisiana and the city of Baton Rouge; and
7 WHEREAS, the 2014 Miss USA Pageant brought Baton Rouge unparalleled
8exposure and shared the best of Louisiana's live music, unique food, and proud people; and
9 WHEREAS, recently, Baton Rouge was named one of the top ten "Happiest Cities
10in America" by the National Bureau of Economic Research; and
11 WHEREAS, the Miss USA Pageant will return to Baton Rouge this July to crown
12Miss USA 2015; and
13 WHEREAS, the 2015 Miss USA Pageant will feature contestants from all fifty states
14and the District of Columbia; and
15 WHEREAS, upon the return of the 2015 Miss USA Pageant to Louisiana, it is
16appropriate to commend the Miss Universe Organization for bringing Baton Rouge
17incomparable media exposure while sharing the best of Louisiana's culture, music, food, and
18people.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
2commend the Miss Universe Organization for bringing the Miss USA Pageant back to the
3state of Louisiana in July of 2015.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
5to the Miss Universe Organization.
