HLS 15RS-421 ORIGINAL 2015 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 33 BY REPRESENTATIVE LEGER COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Neighborhood Development Foundation for its service to the community 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2To commend the Neighborhood Development Foundation for its outstanding service to the 3 city of New Orleans. 4 WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Development Foundation is one of New Orleans' 5greatest success stories, and it is the key to a rewarding and productive life for many low 6income and moderate income families; and 7 WHEREAS, since 1986, the Neighborhood Development Foundation has helped 8thousands of families build assets that they can pass on to their children; and 9 WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Development Foundation was founded on the belief 10that affordable housing is essential to the physical and emotional health, productivity, and 11self-esteem of individuals and that homeownership has a significant effect on children's 12success; and 13 WHEREAS, for over twenty-five years, the Neighborhood Development Foundation 14has provided education and advocacy that make owning and maintaining a home possible; 15and 16 WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Development Foundation provides classroom 17homeownership education in which participants receive valuable information and are able 18to ask questions of mortgage industry professionals; and 19 WHEREAS, on Saturday, March 28, 2015, the Neighborhood Development 20Foundation celebrated its twentieth anniversary with a patron party and gala. Page 1 of 2 HLS 15RS-421 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 33 1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 2commend the Neighborhood Development Foundation for its outstanding service to the city 3of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana and does hereby, on the occasion of its twentieth 4anniversary, recognize the significant effect the foundation has on helping thousands of 5families become homeowners. 6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the 7Neighborhood Development Foundation.
