BY REPRESENTATIVES MORENO, CONNICK, AND THIBAUT
CONDOLENCES:  Expresses condolences of the legislature upon the death of R. Keith Gee
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To express the condolences of the members of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death
3 of R. Keith Gee of Metairie.
4 WHEREAS, the members of the legislature were saddened to learn of the passing of
5R. Keith Gee, Esquire, a lifelong Metairie resident, on April 4, 2015, at the age of fifty-six;
6and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Gee graduated from Jesuit High School in 1976 and enrolled at
8Tulane University; he graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in civil
9engineering in 1980; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Gee pursued a law degree at Tulane University School of Law; he
11graduated in 1983, and after graduation, Mr. Gee accepted a position at Texaco in the legal
12department; and
13 WHEREAS, following a distinguished career at Texaco, Mr. Gee served as assistant
14to a Jefferson Parish councilman before assuming the mantle of executive director at the
15Horsemen's Benevolent & Protection Association; throughout his working career, Mr. Gee
16cared for his mother; and
17 WHEREAS, a lifelong season ticket holder for the New Orleans Saints and the New
18Orleans Pelicans, Mr. Gee's love of sports led him to coach and mentor generations of young
19athletes through the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department; he enjoyed playing basketball;
20he rarely missed major sporting events and attended World Series games, NCAA Final Four
21games, the Kentucky Derby, and Super Bowls; he cherished the Saints' 2009 Super Bowl
22win; and

1 WHEREAS, the sphere of influence of R. Keith Gee continues in the designation of
2the Jesuit High School math department as the Keith Gee '76 Mathematics Department in
3his honor; and
4 WHEREAS, fond recollections of happy times will forever remain in the hearts and
5minds of those who loved R. Keith Gee: his mother, Lillie Hom Gee; sister, Cynthia "Cindy"
6G. Yee, D.D.S. (Darryl); nephew and godson, Tommy Yee; and family and friends; and
7 WHEREAS, life may be measured by moments in time, and R. Keith Gee spent his
8moments on Earth fully and to the best of his ability; he said he had checked off his bucket
9list many times over, with no regrets; his passion for life left memories that will live on
10through those who loved him most.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
12extend sincere condolences to the family of R. Keith Gee; does hereby express heartfelt
13sympathies to those who mourn his loss; and does hereby offer prayers for comfort and
14solace to all who will miss his presence.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
16to the family of R. Keith Gee.
