ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 53 BY REPRESENTATIVE COX AND SENATOR PEACOCK A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend the DeSoto Parish School System for having the highest graduation rate in the state of Louisiana. WHEREAS, the DeSoto Parish School System has achieved a 94.5 percent graduation rate, according to the state Department of Education, which is nearly twenty points above the 74.6 percent average graduation rate of the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the DeSoto Parish School System has also been recognized as the state's leader in improvement over the last few years by graduating over fourteen percent more students today compared to three years ago; and WHEREAS, the DeSoto Parish School System is committed to caring for its students, ensuring their learning, and celebrating their graduation as citizens who are prepared to transform their dreams into realities; and WHEREAS, the exemplary performance of the DeSoto Parish School System reflects outstanding student achievement at the individual, school, and district levels; and WHEREAS, the school district recognizes the value of the community, families, and educators working together to improve graduation outcomes for students in DeSoto Parish; and WHEREAS, the DeSoto Parish School System merits a special measure of commendation for the pride and honor that it brings to the DeSoto Parish community and to the state of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the DeSoto Parish School System upon leading the state with a graduation rate of 94.5 percent.
