HLS 15RS-881 ORIGINAL 2015 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 62 BY REPRESENTATIVE BROADWATER CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of Chief Warrant Officer 4 George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr. 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2To express the condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Chief Warrant 3 Officer 4 George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr., of Hammond, Louisiana, on March 10, 2015. 4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the Legislature of 5Louisiana has learned of the death of Chief Warrant Officer 4 George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr., 6who was killed in dutiful service to his country when his UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter 7crashed during a nighttime exercise in Florida, on March 10, 2015; and 8 WHEREAS, Wayne Griffin was a native of Delhi, Louisiana, and was the son of 9George Wayne Griffin, Sr., and the late Brenda Griffin; and 10 WHEREAS, he had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, playing golf, and 11flying Black Hawk helicopters, but most of all, his life was fulfilled by his family, his 12beautiful wife and his adored children; and 13 WHEREAS, heeding the call of his country, George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr., began a 14career with the Louisiana Army National Guard on March 16, 1994; and 15 WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin served in the Louisiana Army National 16Guard with great courage and valor as evidenced by his receipt of numerous awards such as 17the Combat Action Badge, the Senior Aviator Badge, and the Basic Aviation Badge; and 18 WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin had logged over six thousand flight 19hours and one thousand combat hours; he proudly served his country in Iraq from 2003 until 202005 and 2008 until 2009; and Page 1 of 2 HLS 15RS-881 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 62 1 WHEREAS, with twenty-one years of distinguished service with the Louisiana Army 2National Guard, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin was a military professional serving as a 3Black Hawk and C12 instructor; and 4 WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin left an indelible mark on his family, 5friends, community, and the state of Louisiana; and 6 WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin's passion for his country and 7community will forever remain in the hearts and minds of his loving wife, Becky Beauvais 8Griffin; his daughter, Marianne' Bozovic'; his sons, Cody, Dylan, and Logan Griffin; his 9father, George Wayne Griffin, Sr., and his wife, Linda; his sisters, Tammy Carrige, Reba 10Slade, and April Spencer; and his brother, Brian Griffin; and 11 WHEREAS, the sacrifices made by the great men and women who protect and 12defend the United States and its citizens must always be acknowledged by those who are left 13behind to honor their memory; and 14 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Legislature of Louisiana records for 15posterity the extraordinary dedication and commitment to his country that Chief Warrant 16Officer 4 George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr., displayed throughout his life and in his twenty-one 17years of military service. 18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 19express its condolences and most heartfelt sorrow to the family of Chief Warrant Officer 4 20George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr., and does hereby acknowledge and record for posterity the 21unique and special contributions of Chief Warrant Officer 4 Griffin to the city Hammond, 22to the state of Louisiana, and to the United States of America. 23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted 24to the family of Chief Warrant Officer 4 George "Wayne" Griffin, Jr. DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
