HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 65

SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Designates April 24, 2015, as Louisiana Knights and
Ladies of Peter Claver Day
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the members of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver
3 and Ladies Auxiliary and to designate Friday, April 24, 2015, as Louisiana Knights
4 and Ladies of Peter Claver Day.
5 WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver was founded on November 7, 1909, for the
6purposes of recognizing the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man and of executing
7commendable works of Catholic action, particularly through the spiritual and corporal works
8of mercy; and
9 WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary is the largest and
10oldest black Catholic organization in the United States; and
11 WHEREAS, the Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver in the state of Louisiana have
12rendered service to their churches and communities for more than one hundred years; and
13 WHEREAS, the more than seven hundred officers, delegates, and visitors to the
14Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary are
15convening in the capital city of Baton Rouge for the Seventy-First Annual Conference; and
16 WHEREAS, the continued service of the members of the Louisiana State Conference
17of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary merits sincere commendation and
18recognition.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
20commend the members of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver and
21Ladies Auxiliary upon the celebration of the Seventy-First Annual Conference and does

1hereby commend these exceptional men and women for their continued service and
2commitment to the state of Louisiana.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the legislature does hereby designate Friday,
4April 24, 2015, as Louisiana Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver Day.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
6to Corey Jeanlouis, president of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter
7Claver.
