ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 65 BY REPRESENTATIVE SMITH A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend the members of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary and to designate Friday, April 24, 2015, as Louisiana Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver Day. WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver was founded on November 7, 1909, for the purposes of recognizing the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man and of executing commendable works of Catholic action, particularly through the spiritual and corporal works of mercy; and WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary is the largest and oldest black Catholic organization in the United States; and WHEREAS, the Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver in the state of Louisiana have rendered service to their churches and communities for more than one hundred years; and WHEREAS, the more than seven hundred officers, delegates, and visitors to the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary are convening in the capital city of Baton Rouge for the Seventy-First Annual Conference; and WHEREAS, the continued service of the members of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary merits sincere commendation and recognition. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary upon the celebration of the Seventy-First Annual Conference and does hereby commend these exceptional men and women for their continued service and commitment to the state of Louisiana. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Corey Jeanlouis, president of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver.
