ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 105 BY REPRESENTATIVE THIERRY A RESOLUTION To commend Edmonia Tatman Bernard upon the celebration of her one hundredth birthday. WHEREAS, Edmonia Tatman was born in Whiteville, Louisiana, on May 15, 1915, and has been a long time resident of the community; and WHEREAS, she became the wife of Alvin Bernard, Sr., and this marriage was blessed with seven children, twenty-four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, in addition to being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Bernard has been active in her church and community; and WHEREAS, during her long and productive lifetime, Edmonia Tatman Bernard has demonstrated in countless ways her dedication to the welfare of others and has earned the respect and affection of people from all walks of life and ages; and WHEREAS, she has lived during the most eventful century of the world's history to date and, in her quiet way, has been a force for good and a stabilizing influence on those around her during these turbulent years; it is appropriate to herald the longevity of this beloved centenarian. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby congratulate Edmonia Tatman Bernard upon reaching the rarified milestone of one hundred years of life and does hereby offer best wishes for many more happy, productive years.
