HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 111
BY REPRESENTATIVE SMITH
COMMENDATIONS:  Designates Tuesday, May 26, 2015, as LSU Day at the state capitol
1	A RESOLUTION
2To designate Tuesday, May 26, 2015, as LSU Day at the state capitol.
3 WHEREAS, LSU has provided high-quality education services for one hundred fifty-
4five years, and offers solutions for the scientific, social, and economic needs of Louisiana;
5and
6 WHEREAS, LSU offers degrees in more than one hundred fields, ranging from
7associate to doctoral degrees; and
8 WHEREAS, in 2014, LSU awarded 6,249 degrees, the second most degrees awarded
9in a single year at LSU, in its continuing mission to meet the workforce demands of the state
10and the nation; and
11 WHEREAS, LSU conducts outreach and services for communities in all sixty-four
12parishes of the state on issues of agriculture, aquaculture, rural development, health and
13mental health, nutrition, education, flood protection, small business development, animal
14health, arts and culture, finance, and law, among others; and
15 WHEREAS, the generosity of the citizens of this state and nation have contributed
16to the support of the university, and in turn, LSU provides a quality education, basic and
17applicable research, and valuable public service.
18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
19Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the dedicated work and contributions of the 
20employees and students of LSU; does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the

1university's outstanding leadership in higher education in the state of Louisiana; and does
2hereby designate Tuesday, May 26, 2015, as LSU Day at the state capitol
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
4to LSU president and chancellor, F. King Alexander.
