HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 111
BY REPRESENTATIVE SMITH
A RESOLUTION
To designate Tuesday, May 26, 2015, as LSU Day at the state capitol.
WHEREAS, LSU has provided high-quality education services for one hundred fifty-
five years, and offers solutions for the scientific, social, and economic needs of Louisiana;
and
WHEREAS, LSU offers degrees in more than one hundred fields, ranging from
associate to doctoral degrees; and
WHEREAS, in 2014, LSU awarded 6,249 degrees, the second most degrees awarded
in a single year at LSU, in its continuing mission to meet the workforce demands of the state
and the nation; and
WHEREAS, LSU conducts outreach and services for communities in all sixty-four
parishes of the state on issues of agriculture, aquaculture, rural development, health and
mental health, nutrition, education, flood protection, small business development, animal
health, arts and culture, finance, and law, among others; and
WHEREAS, the generosity of the citizens of this state and nation have contributed
to the support of the university, and in turn, LSU provides a quality education, basic and
applicable research, and valuable public service.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the dedicated work and contributions of the 
employees and students of LSU; does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the
university's outstanding leadership in higher education in the state of Louisiana; and does
hereby designate Tuesday, May 26, 2015, as LSU Day at the state capitol

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to LSU president and chancellor, F. King Alexander.
