HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 113

A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Marthé
Lanaux Gelé.
WHEREAS, it is with sincere and heartfelt sorrow that the members of the Louisiana
House of Representatives have learned of the death of Marthé Lanaux Gelé on May 19,
2015, at the age of eighty-nine; and
WHEREAS, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 21, 1926, to the late Louis
A. and Hilda Thibodaux Lanaux, Ms. Gelé was a resident of Covington; and
WHEREAS, she was married to the late Louis Nunez Gelé; the loving couple resided
in Lafayette for twenty-five years and in Gulfport, Mississippi, for thirty years; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gelé will forever be remembered for her exceptional fashion, her
passion for traveling around the world with her family and friends, and as receiving the title
of Grand Life Master in duplicate bridge; and
WHEREAS, she was the sister of Pierre, Hilaire, Louis Lanaux, and the late Denis
and Marie Louise Lanaux; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gelé is survived by her children, Stephanie Schedler and husband 
John T. "Tom", Stephen Gelé and wife Diane, Glenn Gelé and wife Andreé, Donald Gelé,
Peggy Gelé and husband David, Timothy Gelé and wife Patsy; and numerous grandchildren
and great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, the death of Marthé Lanaux Gelé has left a tremendous void in her
family, community, and the state of Louisiana, and her memory shall remain in the minds
and hearts of all who knew and loved this extraordinary woman.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
death of Marthé Lanaux Gelé; does hereby recognize her outstanding achievements and
singular contributions; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor
that this extraordinary woman will forever bring to her loved ones, community, and state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Marthé Lanaux Gelé.
