HLS 15RS-2926 ORIGINAL 2015 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 118 BY REPRESENTATIVE BROADWATER COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University upon receiving the 2015 SBDC Excellence and Innovation Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana 3 University upon its receipt of the 2015 SBDC Excellence and Innovation Award 4 from the United States Small Business Administration. 5 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at 6Southeastern Louisiana University received the 2015 SBDC Excellence and Innovation 7Award on May 8, 2015, at the White House from the United States Small Business 8Administration; and 9 WHEREAS, the SBDC at Southeastern Louisiana University provides invaluable 10service and assistance to many businesses and entrepreneurs in the region it serves; and 11 WHEREAS, the staff of Southeastern's SBDC has received state and regional awards 12in recognition of extraordinary efforts in the development of innovative ideas and excellent 13service to clients; and 14 WHEREAS, the United States has approximately two thousand small business 15development centers and the SBDC at Southeastern is one of ten in the state of Louisiana; 16and 17 WHEREAS, the SBDC at Southeastern Louisiana University serves the five-parish 18region of Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington; and 19 WHEREAS, in recent years, the SBDC has assisted over three thousand six hundred 20clients, aided in the development of more than two hundred twenty new businesses and Page 1 of 3 HLS 15RS-2926 ORIGINAL HR NO. 118 1expansions, helped businesses establish two thousand five hundred jobs, and obtained more 2than three hundred twenty-eight million dollars in capital formation; and 3 WHEREAS, in 2010, the SBDC received a state-level Excellence and Innovation 4Award and was recognized two years later as the top center in the five-state region of 5Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas; and 6 WHEREAS, with the help of area economic development agencies and chambers of 7commerce, the SBDC at Southeastern Louisiana University is able to work towards the 8improvement of the economic climate and opportunities for the region; and 9 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the SBDC at Southeastern Louisiana 10University upon its receipt of the 2015 SBDC Excellence and Innovation Award and to 11recognize the extraordinary service that the center provides to businesses, entrepreneurs, and 12the state of Louisiana. 13 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 14Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana Small Business Development 15Center at Southeastern Louisiana University upon its receipt of the 2015 SBDC Excellence 16and Innovation Award from the United States Small Business Administration and does 17hereby recognize and record for posterity its distinguished record of service to businesses, 18entrepreneurs, and the state of Louisiana. 19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted 20to Wayne Ricks and Brandy Boudreaux, business consultants at the Louisiana Small 21Business Development Center at Southeastern; Sandy Summers, assistant director of the 22Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern; William Joubert, director 23of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern; Dr. John Crain, 24president of Southeastern Louisiana University; and Dr. Sandra Woodley, president of the 25University of Louisiana System.
