HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 118

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana
University upon its receipt of the 2015 SBDC Excellence and Innovation Award
from the United States Small Business Administration.
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at
Southeastern Louisiana University received the 2015 SBDC Excellence and Innovation
Award on May 8, 2015, at the White House from the United States Small Business
Administration; and
WHEREAS, the SBDC at Southeastern Louisiana University provides invaluable
service and assistance to many businesses and entrepreneurs in the region it serves; and
WHEREAS, the staff of Southeastern's SBDC has received state and regional awards
in recognition of extraordinary efforts in the development of innovative ideas and excellent
service to clients; and
WHEREAS, the United States has approximately two thousand small business
development centers and the SBDC at Southeastern is one of ten in the state of Louisiana;
and
WHEREAS, the SBDC at Southeastern Louisiana University serves the five-parish
region of Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington; and
WHEREAS, in recent years, the SBDC has assisted over three thousand six hundred
clients, aided in the development of more than two hundred twenty new businesses and
expansions, helped businesses establish two thousand five hundred jobs, and obtained more
than three hundred twenty-eight million dollars in capital formation; and
WHEREAS, in 2010, the SBDC received a state-level Excellence and Innovation
Award and was recognized two years later as the top center in the five-state region of
Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas; and

WHEREAS, with the help of area economic development agencies and chambers of
commerce, the SBDC at Southeastern Louisiana University is able to work towards the
improvement of the economic climate and opportunities for the region; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the SBDC at Southeastern Louisiana
University upon its receipt of the 2015 SBDC Excellence and Innovation Award and to
recognize the extraordinary service that the center provides to businesses, entrepreneurs, and
the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana Small Business Development
Center at Southeastern Louisiana University upon its receipt of the 2015 SBDC Excellence
and Innovation Award from the United States Small Business Administration and does
hereby recognize and record for posterity its distinguished record of service to businesses,
entrepreneurs, and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Wayne Ricks and Brandy Boudreaux, business consultants at the Louisiana Small
Business Development Center at Southeastern; Sandy Summers, assistant director of the
Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern; William Joubert, director
of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern; Dr. John Crain,
president of Southeastern Louisiana University; and Dr. Sandra Woodley, president of the
University of Louisiana System.
