SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Designates Tuesday, May 26, 2015, as LSU AgCenter
Day at the state capitol
1 A RESOLUTION
2To designate Tuesday, May 26, 2015, as LSU AgCenter Day at the state capitol.
3 WHEREAS, the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, known as the LSU
4AgCenter, is one of ten institutions within the LSU system; and
5 WHEREAS, the mission of the LSU AgCenter is to provide the people of Louisiana
6with research-based educational information that can improve their lives and economic well-
7being; and
8 WHEREAS, the LSU AgCenter has offices in each of Louisiana's sixty-four parishes
9and has twenty research stations across the state; and
10 WHEREAS, the LSU AgCenter aims to develop the best use of natural resources,
11conserve and protect the environment, enhance the development of existing and new
12agricultural enterprises, and develop human and community resources; and
13 WHEREAS, the LSU AgCenter has an integral role in the support of agricultural
14industries, the enhancement of the environment, and the improvement of the quality of life
15through its 4-H youth, family and consumer sciences, and community development
16programs; and
17 WHEREAS, the LSU AgCenter has one of the most active intellectual property
18programs in the country and ranks among the top research universities relative to return on
19investment dollar; over fifty scientists in the LSU AgCenter have received patents or plant
20variety protection certificates; and

1 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to designate Tuesday, May 26, 2015, as LSU AgCenter
2Day at the state capitol and to commend the dedicated work and contributions of the LSU
3AgCenter faculty, staff, and students.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
5Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Tuesday, May 26, 2015, as LSU AgCenter
6Day at the state capitol and does hereby commend the dedicated work and contributions of
7the LSU AgCenter faculty, staff, and students to the state of Louisiana and its citizens.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
9to LSU Vice President for Agriculture and Dean of the College of Agriculture, Dr. Bill
10Richardson.
