HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 128

COMMENDATIONS: Commends the River Region Caucus and its member parishes for
their cooperative efforts toward improving the quality of life in the River Region
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the River Region Caucus and its member parishes for their cooperative efforts
3 toward improving the quality of life in the River Region.
4 WHEREAS, formed in 1998, the River Region Caucus (RRC) is comprised of the
5governing bodies of Ascension, St. Charles, St. James, and St. John the Baptist parishes; and
6 WHEREAS, the mission of the RRC is to seek regional cooperation among the four
7participating parishes on various issues and to work together as a regional alliance to solve
8common problems; and
9 WHEREAS, because the region shares similar challenges and values and because the
10parishes are a part of the same economic region, the parishes of the RRC have several
11common and collective goals, including increasing awareness for state policy and
12decisionmakers on issues related to levee protection, infrastructure improvements,
13transportation and safety, traffic management, community development, environmental
14planning, economic development, coastal erosion, and port facility improvements; working
15cooperatively to maximize their images, services, and communities; improving the quality
16of life for their citizens through better communication; identifying and planning
17opportunities to promote and advance the culture and interests of the river region; and
18increasing awareness of and educating the public and statewide decisionmakers about the
19region; and

1 WHEREAS, the River Region Caucus merits a special measure of commendation for
2its significant contributions toward meeting the needs of the citizens of Ascension,
3St. Charles, St. James, and St. John the Baptist parishes and for the pride and honor it brings
4to the River Region and to the state of Louisiana.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
6Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the River Region Caucus and its member
7parishes for their cooperative efforts toward improving the quality of life in the River
8Region.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
10to the president of each parish in the River Region Caucus.
