HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 129

COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Reverend Charles E. Guillory for fifty years of
ministerial service
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Reverend Charles E. Guillory for fifty years of ministerial service.
3 WHEREAS, Romans 13:7 reads, in part: "Give to everyone what you owe them...if
4respect, then respect; if honor, then honor"; and
5 WHEREAS, there may be no service more honorable than the work of shepherding
6the flock of God, providing pastoral care, and ministering to humanity; and
7 WHEREAS, for fifty years, the Reverend Charles E. Guillory has focused his
8energies on effecting acts of love and kindness through his ministry to the hurting, the
9hungry, and the lost; and
10 WHEREAS, an educator with a bachelor's degree in education, a master's degree in
11administration and supervision, and a master's degree in guidance and counseling, all from
12Southern University in Baton Rouge, Reverend Guillory spent sixteen years as a classroom
13teacher and an additional seventeen years supervising federal programs administered through
14Avoyelles Parish schools; and
15 WHEREAS, four congregations have benefitted from the pastoral care of Reverend
16Guillory: New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Mansura; New Morning Glory Baptist Church
17in Ruby; Greater New Bethel Baptist Church in Simmesport; and St. John Community
18Church-Baptist in Marksville; and
19 WHEREAS, under Reverend Guillory's leadership, St. John Community Church-
20Baptist was blessed to complete both a building project and a land purchase in nine years;

1 WHEREAS, during his assignments as a pastor, Rev. Guillory also served as dean
2of Christian education in the Southeast Eighth District Baptist Association and was deputy
3dean of the minister's division and dean of the congress of Christian education of the
4Louisiana Home and Foreign Missions Baptist Convention; and
5 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to speak kind words so that their beauty may be relished
6by the hearer; therefore, it is fitting to commend the Reverend Charles E. Guillory for a half
7century of gifted service in ministry to the people of Louisiana.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
9Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Reverend Charles E. Guillory for fifty
10years of ministerial service and does hereby express best hopes and prayers that his good
11works for the Lord will continue.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
13to the Reverend Charles E. Guillory.
