ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 129 BY REPRESENTATIVE ROBERT JOHNSON A RESOLUTION To commend the Reverend Charles E. Guillory for fifty years of ministerial service. WHEREAS, Romans 13:7 reads, in part: "Give to everyone what you owe them...if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor"; and WHEREAS, there may be no service more honorable than the work of shepherding the flock of God, providing pastoral care, and ministering to humanity; and WHEREAS, for fifty years, the Reverend Charles E. Guillory has focused his energies on effecting acts of love and kindness through his ministry to the hurting, the hungry, and the lost; and WHEREAS, an educator with a bachelor's degree in education, a master's degree in administration and supervision, and a master's degree in guidance and counseling, all from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Reverend Guillory spent sixteen years as a classroom teacher and an additional seventeen years supervising federal programs administered through Avoyelles Parish schools; and WHEREAS, four congregations have benefitted from the pastoral care of Reverend Guillory: New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Mansura; New Morning Glory Baptist Church in Ruby; Greater New Bethel Baptist Church in Simmesport; and St. John Community Church-Baptist in Marksville; and WHEREAS, under Reverend Guillory's leadership, St. John Community Church- Baptist was blessed to complete both a building project and a land purchase in nine years; and WHEREAS, during his assignments as a pastor, Rev. Guillory also served as dean of Christian education in the Southeast Eighth District Baptist Association and was deputy dean of the minister's division and dean of the congress of Christian education of the Louisiana Home and Foreign Missions Baptist Convention; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 129 ENROLLED WHEREAS, it is appropriate to speak kind words so that their beauty may be relished by the hearer; therefore, it is fitting to commend the Reverend Charles E. Guillory for a half century of gifted service in ministry to the people of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Reverend Charles E. Guillory for fifty years of ministerial service and does hereby express best hopes and prayers that his good works for the Lord will continue.
