McClung upon his retirement after thirty-four years of teaching 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend Philip A. McClung upon his retirement after thirty-four years of teaching in 3 the state of Louisiana. 4 WHEREAS, upon the occasion of his retirement, it is appropriate to commend Philip 5A. McClung of Northwestern State University (NSU) Middle Lab School in Natchitoches, 6Louisiana, after thirty-four years of dedicated service to the education of the youth of 7Louisiana; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. McClung received a bachelor of arts degree in education from 9Northwestern State University in 1981; in 1991, he received his masters of education degree 10in secondary education from Northwestern State University; and 11 WHEREAS, in 1980, Mr. McClung was a student teacher at Winnfield High School 12in Winn Parish; he also taught at Georgetown High School in Grant Parish before becoming 13a teacher at NSU Middle Lab School, where he teaches language arts, social studies, and 14technology; he also provides field supervision and adjunct instruction for the College of 15Education at NSU; and 16 WHEREAS, in honor of his myriad contributions and committed service as a teacher, 17Mr. McClung has received many awards, some of which include the Natchitoches Parish 18High School Teacher of the Year Award, the Natchitoches Jaycees Outstanding Young 19Educator Award, the Louisiana State Middle School Teacher of the Year Award, and in 202009, he was named the NSU Middle Lab School Teacher of the Year; and Page 1 of 2 HLS 15RS-3753 ORIGINAL HR NO. 133 1 WHEREAS, Philip A. McClung merits a sincere measure of commendation upon his 2retirement after thirty-four years of dedicated service as an outstanding educator. 3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Philip A. McClung upon the occasion of his 5retirement after thirty-four years of dedicated service as an educator; does hereby recognize 6his commitment to the education of the youth in Louisiana; and does hereby wish him full 7measures of success and happiness in the years to come. 8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted 9to Philip A.
