SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes Friday, April 24, 2015, as Louisiana Knights
and Ladies of Peter Claver Day
1 A RESOLUTION
2To recognize Friday, April 24, 2015, as Louisiana Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver Day.
3 WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver was founded on November 7, 1909; the
4purposes of this organization are to recognize the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of
5man and to execute commendable works of Catholic action through the spiritual and
6corporal works of mercy; and
7 WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver and the Ladies Auxiliary is the largest and
8oldest black Catholic organization in the United States; and
9 WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver and the Ladies Auxiliary in the state of
10Louisiana have rendered service to their churches and communities across the state for over
11one hundred three years; and
12 WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter
13Claver and Ladies Auxiliary merit sincere commendation and recognition for their continued
14service in the organization.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
16Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of the Louisiana State
17Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary upon the occasion of its
18Seventy-First Annual Conference; does hereby welcome the organization to Baton Rouge
19for the conference; and does hereby commend these exceptional men and women for their
20continued service and commitment to their communities and the state of Louisiana.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives does
2hereby recognize Friday, April 24, 2015, as Louisiana Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver
3Day.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
5to Corey Jeanlouis, president of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter
6Claver.
