ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 14 BY REPRESENTATIVES TERRY LANDRY, HONORE, PIERRE, SMITH, AND THIERRY A RESOLUTION To recognize Friday, April 24, 2015, as Louisiana Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver Day. WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver was founded on November 7, 1909; the purposes of this organization are to recognize the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man and to execute commendable works of Catholic action through the spiritual and corporal works of mercy; and WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver and the Ladies Auxiliary is the largest and oldest black Catholic organization in the United States; and WHEREAS, the Knights of Peter Claver and the Ladies Auxiliary in the state of Louisiana have rendered service to their churches and communities across the state for over one hundred three years; and WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary merit sincere commendation and recognition for their continued service in the organization. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of the Louisiana State Conference of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary upon the occasion of its Seventy-First Annual Conference; does hereby welcome the organization to Baton Rouge for the conference; and does hereby commend these exceptional men and women for their continued service and commitment to their communities and the state of Louisiana. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives does hereby recognize Friday, April 24, 2015, as Louisiana Knights and Ladies of Peter Claver Day.
