COMMENDATIONS: Commends Bennie Frank Singleton for his many achievements and
upon the celebration of his 94th birthday
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Bennie Frank Singleton for his many achievements and upon the celebration
3 of his ninety-fourth birthday.
4 WHEREAS, born on June 7, 1921, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, Mr. Singleton is the
5son of Ora Turner; and
6 WHEREAS, in December of 1942, Mr. Singleton became a member of the United
7States Army; he served in World War II, and he was active in the invasion of Normandy; and
8 WHEREAS, in January of 1946, he was honorably discharged from the Army; in
9recognition of his extraordinary military service, he received many honors and medals such
10as the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Honor, the Marksmanship Badge,
11the Five Star Campaign Star, and many others; and
12 WHEREAS, in 1950, Mr. Singleton married Eliza A. Batiste, and the couple
13remained married until Eliza's death; and
14 WHEREAS, for fifty dedicated years, Mr. Singleton worked as a cement finisher;
15he also helped supervise a construction crew for the building of the Sunshine Bridge; and
16 WHEREAS, he is a member of True Love Missionary Baptist Church in Baton
17Rouge; and
18 WHEREAS, Mr. Singleton is a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and
19 WHEREAS, upon the celebration of his ninety-fourth birthday, it is appropriate to
20commend Bennie Frank Singleton for his many achievements throughout his life.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Bennie Frank Singleton for his many
3achievements throughout his life; does hereby commend Mr. Singleton upon the celebration
4of his ninety-fourth birthday; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the
5tremendous pride and honor this wonderful gentleman brings to his family, friends,
6community, and state.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
8to Bennie Frank Singleton.
