HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 155
BY REPRESENTATIVE PUGH
SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH:  Designates July 12-18, 2015, as Pretrial, Probation, and
Parole Supervision Week and commends the probation and parole officers of the
Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Youth Services, Office of Juvenile
Justice
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend the probation and parole officers of the Louisiana Department of Public
3 Safety, Youth Services, Office of Juvenile Justice, and to designate July 12-18, 2015,
4 as Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week.
5 WHEREAS, supervision at the community level is an essential part of the Louisiana
6juvenile justice continuum of treatment; and
7 WHEREAS, Office of Juvenile Justice probation and parole officers are responsible
8for supervising youths in the community while helping youths and families navigate the
9juvenile justice system; and
10 WHEREAS, probation and parole officers fulfill a vital role in public safety while
11coordinating educational, vocational, and treatment opportunities for youths to obtain the
12skills necessary for successful futures; and
13 WHEREAS, probation and parole officers work in very demanding and stressful
14conditions, are charged with the care of high risk populations, and face many challenges that
15put them at risk every day; and
16 WHEREAS, probation and parole officers work in partnership with community
17agencies and groups to promote prevention, intervention, and advocacy programs; and
18 WHEREAS, probation and parole officers are a true force for positive change in the
19lives of young people in their communities.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate July 12-18, 2015, as Pretrial, Probation, and
3Parole Supervision Week; does hereby recognize the achievements of these dedicated
4workers; and does hereby encourage the citizens of the state to honor their community
5probation and parole professionals.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
7to the Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice.
