HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 155
BY REPRESENTATIVE PUGH
A RESOLUTION
To commend the probation and parole officers of the Louisiana Department of Public
Safety, Youth Services, Office of Juvenile Justice, and to designate July 12-18, 2015,
as Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week.
WHEREAS, supervision at the community level is an essential part of the Louisiana
juvenile justice continuum of treatment; and
WHEREAS, Office of Juvenile Justice probation and parole officers are responsible
for supervising youths in the community while helping youths and families navigate the
juvenile justice system; and
WHEREAS, probation and parole officers fulfill a vital role in public safety while
coordinating educational, vocational, and treatment opportunities for youths to obtain the
skills necessary for successful futures; and
WHEREAS, probation and parole officers work in very demanding and stressful
conditions, are charged with the care of high risk populations, and face many challenges that
put them at risk every day; and
WHEREAS, probation and parole officers work in partnership with community
agencies and groups to promote prevention, intervention, and advocacy programs; and
WHEREAS, probation and parole officers are a true force for positive change in the
lives of young people in their communities.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate July 12-18, 2015, as Pretrial, Probation, and
Parole Supervision Week; does hereby recognize the achievements of these dedicated
workers; and does hereby encourage the citizens of the state to honor their community
probation and parole professionals.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice.
