COMMENDATIONS: Commends Madeline Bethea upon being named one of Louisiana's
top two youth volunteers of 2015 by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Madeline Bethea upon being named one of Louisiana's top two youth
3 volunteers of 2015 by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
4 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Madeline Bethea, a resident of Minden,
5Louisiana, upon being named one of Louisiana's top two youth volunteers of 2015 by the
6Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and
7 WHEREAS, the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is a nationwide program
8that honors young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism in their communities; and
9 WHEREAS, Madeline Bethea, a student at Webster Junior High School, achieved
10national recognition for her exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2015 Prudential Spirt
11of Community Award; and
12 WHEREAS, over the past eight years, Madeline has delivered more than fifteen
13thousand stuffed animals to nursing homes, children's hospitals, and emergency first
14responders in seven states to comfort those who are in need of a friend; and
15 WHEREAS, many churches, schools, and civic organizations have contributed to
16Madeline's work to help decrease the loneliness and depression in nursing homes and
17hospitals; and
18 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
19and the overall vitality of American society depend upon the dedication of young people like
20Madeline Bethea who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Madeline Bethea as the recipient of a 2015
3Prudential Spirit of Community Award; does hereby recognize her outstanding volunteer
4service, peer leadership, and community service; and does hereby extend to her best wishes
5for continued success and happiness.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
7to Madeline Bethea.
