SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH:  Recognizes June 14, 2015, as National Flag Day and
June 14-20, 2015, as National Flag Week and commends La. citizens for their
military service
1	A RESOLUTION
2To recognize June 14, 2015, as National Flag Day and June 14 through 20, 2015, as National
3 Flag Week and to commend Louisiana citizens for their military service.
4 WHEREAS, each year, National Flag Day is celebrated in the United States on the
5fourteenth of June, and the week during which this day falls is designated as National Flag
6Week; and
7 WHEREAS, the American flag has been the national symbol for two hundred thirty-
8eight years, and it remains a beacon of freedom wherever it is flown; and
9 WHEREAS, Americans fly the flag to show their pride and appreciation for the
10freedoms they enjoy and pledge their allegiance to the flag, and American troops carry it
11before them as they defend the liberties for which it stands; and
12 WHEREAS, on National Flag Day, the citizens of Louisiana remember those in
13uniform whose courage and sacrifice inspire them at home; and
14 WHEREAS, Representatives James K. Armes, III, Wesley T. Bishop, Richard T.
15Burford, Henry L. Burns, Stephen F. Carter, Kenny R. Cox, John Bel Edwards, James R.
16"Jim" Fannin, Franklin J. Foil, Randal L. Gaines, Jerry Gisclair, Lowell C. "Chris" Hazel,
17Dalton W. Honoré, Frank A. Howard, Terry C. Landry, Sr., Nick Lorusso, Jack Montoucet,
18and John M. Schroder, Sr., along with House staffers Karen Auguste, Leo Bouquet, Noel
19Hunt,  Felicie Jackson, Joe Locke, Tyler McCloud, W. J. Minor, and Vince Starns, have
20either served in the past or are serving presently in the military; and

1 WHEREAS, on Sunday, June 14, 2015, Representative Regina Ashford Barrow is
2hosting her tenth annual "Celebrating the Red, White, and Blue" National Flag Day
3celebration with a parade, music, food, and fun; and
4 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize National Flag Day and National Flag
5Week and to take this opportunity to express enduring appreciation to all of Louisiana's
6citizens who have served or are serving in the military for the tremendous pride and honor
7they bring to the state of Louisiana and the United States of America.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
9Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize June 14, 2015, as National Flag Day and
10June 14 through June 20,  2015, as National Flag Week and does hereby commend Louisiana
11citizens for their military service.
