HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 181
BY REPRESENTATIVE JONES
A RESOLUTION
To commend Rose Mae Vidos Broussard for her many achievements and contributions
throughout her well-lived life.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Rose Mae Vidos Broussard for her many
achievements and contributions during more than eighty years of service and involvement
in improving her community, her hometown of Franklin, St. Mary Parish, and the state of
Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Rose Mae Vidos Broussard was born on November 18, 1930, in Morgan
City in St. Mary Parish; and
WHEREAS, she has been a lifelong resident of Louisiana and has spent most of her
life in St. Mary Parish, where she currently resides; and
WHEREAS, at the age of eighteen, she married Beverly Bernard Broussard; the
couple lived in Franklin and enjoyed nearly fifty-eight years of love and companionship until
the death of Mr. Bernard in November of 2006; and
WHEREAS, in her efforts to improve her community and the state of Louisiana,
Rose Mae Vidos Broussard worked on many issues, including civil rights, affordable
housing, and affordable and indigent health care services; and
WHEREAS, she is the loving mother of Shelly Lynn Broussard and Roxanne E.
Broussard, and the proud grandmother of five children and seven great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Broussard merits a special measure of commendation for the great
pride and honor that she brings to her community, her hometown of Franklin, St. Mary
Parish, and the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Rose Mae Vidos Broussard for her many
achievements and contributions and does hereby recognize and record for posterity her

incredible efforts and steadfast commitment to improve her community and the state that
will forever inspire the citizens of St. Mary Parish and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Rose Mae Vidos Broussard.
