COMMENDATIONS: Commends and expresses appreciation to the Honorable Harold L.
Ritchie for his outstanding legislative service and recognizes his contributions to his
district and the state
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Honorable Harold L. Ritchie and to express enduring gratitude for his
3 outstanding contributions to the parishes of St. Tammany and Washington and the
4 state of Louisiana, particularly during his tenure as a distinguished member of the
5 Louisiana House of Representatives.
6 WHEREAS, Harold Ritchie is a notable public servant who has served with
7excellence as a state representative since taking office in 2004, during which time he has
8fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of his district and the state in an honorable
9and dedicated manner; and
10 WHEREAS, he is a graduate of Bogalusa High School and Commonwealth College;
11and

1 WHEREAS, Representative Ritchie has been a proud member of the Democratic
2Caucus and the Louisiana Rural Caucus; and
3 WHEREAS, Representative Ritchie's diligent committee service has included serving
4as the vice chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture and
5Rural Development and as vice chairman of the House Committee on Insurance, and he has
6served as a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means, the House Committee on
7Enrollment, the House Committee on Education, the House Committee on Commerce, the
8House Committee on Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs, and the Joint Legislative
9Committee on Capital Outlay; and
10 WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Representative Ritchie
11has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation including a bill to make
12cockfighting a crime and the renewal of a four cent tobacco tax to provide funding for
13healthcare; and
14 WHEREAS, as he prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
15of his life, Representative Ritchie merits a sincere measure of commendation for his singular
16contributions and the exemplary strides he has taken as an exceptional member of the
17Louisiana House of Representatives.
18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
19Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Harold L. Ritchie; does
20hereby extend honor and recognition to him for his outstanding accomplishments,
21particularly during his tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which
22has been marked by his uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of his constituents
23in the parishes of St. Tammany and Washington and the citizens of the state of Louisiana;
24and does hereby pay tribute to him for the generous and effective way in which he has
25dedicated his intelligence and his energy to the service of his family, friends, community,
26and state.
27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
28expresses enduring gratitude to Representative Ritchie for his service to the citizens of
29Louisiana, as evidenced by his superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished

1body, and hereby extends to him the best wishes of all his colleagues for continued
2prosperity and success in his future endeavors.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
4to the Honorable Harold L. Ritchie.
