GERMAIN, STOKES, TALBOT, THIBAUT, THIERRY, WHITNEY, ALFRED WILLIAMS, PATRICK WILLIAMS, WILLMOTT, AND WOODRUFF A RESOLUTION To commend the Honorable Harold L. Ritchie and to express enduring gratitude for his outstanding contributions to the parishes of St. Tammany and Washington and the state of Louisiana, particularly during his tenure as a distinguished member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. WHEREAS, Harold Ritchie is a notable public servant who has served with excellence as a state representative since taking office in 2004, during which time he has fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of his district and the state in an honorable and dedicated manner; and WHEREAS, he is a graduate of Bogalusa High School and Commonwealth College; and WHEREAS, Representative Ritchie has been a proud member of the Democratic Caucus and the Louisiana Rural Caucus; and WHEREAS, Representative Ritchie's diligent committee service has included serving as the vice chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture and Rural Development and as vice chairman of the House Committee on Insurance, and he has served as a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means, the House Committee on Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 189 ENROLLED Enrollment, the House Committee on Education, the House Committee on Commerce, the House Committee on Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs, and the Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay; and WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Representative Ritchie has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation including a bill to make cockfighting a crime and the renewal of a four cent tobacco tax to provide funding for healthcare; and WHEREAS, as he prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter of his life, Representative Ritchie merits a sincere measure of commendation for his singular contributions and the exemplary strides he has taken as an exceptional member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Harold L. Ritchie; does hereby extend honor and recognition to him for his outstanding accomplishments, particularly during his tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which has been marked by his uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of his constituents in the parishes of St. Tammany and Washington and the citizens of the state of Louisiana; and does hereby pay tribute to him for the generous and effective way in which he has dedicated his intelligence and his energy to the service of his family, friends, community, and state. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby expresses enduring gratitude to Representative Ritchie for his service to the citizens of Louisiana, as evidenced by his superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished body, and hereby extends to him the best wishes of all his colleagues for continued prosperity and success in his future endeavors.
