HLS 15RS-134 ORIGINAL 2015 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 19 BY REPRESENTATIVE ANDERS SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Designates June 3, 2015, as 4-H Day and commends the state officers of 4-H 1 A RESOLUTION 2To designate June 3, 2015, as 4-H Day at the legislature and to commend the state executive 3 board officers of 4-H. 4 WHEREAS, LSU AgCenter 4-H program participants gain knowledge and life skills 5that enable them to become positive, productive, and compassionate members of their 6communities; and 7 WHEREAS, 4-H has three primary program initiatives: citizenship; healthy living; 8and science, engineering, and technology; and 9 WHEREAS, 4-H youth learn leadership and life skills through a variety of projects 10on topics such as outdoor skills, aerospace, animal science, nutrition, forestry, and 11community service; and 12 WHEREAS, "Learn by Doing" is the 4-H slogan which encourages members to 13prepare themselves intellectually, emotionally, and physically for opportunities to improve 14their lives and the communities in which they live; and 15 WHEREAS, the Louisiana 4-H Youth Development program continues to expand 16to meet the needs of youth, with participation exceeding two hundred forty thousand 17members across the state; and 18 WHEREAS, through its extraordinary record of research, education, youth 19development, and community service, Louisiana 4-H is an invaluable asset to the LSU 20AgCenter and the state of Louisiana; and Page 1 of 2 HLS 15RS-134 ORIGINAL HR NO. 19 1 WHEREAS, today more than twelve hundred 4-H members and volunteers from all 2sixty-four parishes are at the capitol for the fourteenth annual 4-H Day meeting legislators 3and learning about the legislative process. 4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 5Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate June 3, 2015, as 4-H Day at the legislature 6and does hereby commend the 4-H state executive board officers, members, and volunteers 7throughout the state of Louisiana for their outstanding accomplishments and manifold 8contributions to their communities. 9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted 10to the state president of the 4-H executive board.
