COMMENDATIONS: Commends and expresses appreciation to the Honorable Roy A.
Burrell for his outstanding legislative service and recognizes his contributions to his
district and the state
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Honorable Roy A. Burrell and to express enduring gratitude for his
3 outstanding contributions to the parishes of Bossier and Caddo and the state of
4 Louisiana, particularly during his tenure as a distinguished member of the Louisiana
5 House of Representatives.
6 WHEREAS, Roy Burrell is a notable public servant who has served with excellence
7as a state representative since taking office in 2004, during which time he has fully used
8every opportunity to serve the citizens of his district and the state in an honorable and
9dedicated manner; and
10 WHEREAS, he is a graduate of Forest High School and Northeast Louisiana
11University; and

1 WHEREAS, Representative Burrell has been a proud member of the Democratic
2Caucus, the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, and the Louisiana Rural Caucus; and
3 WHEREAS, Representative Burrell's diligent committee service has included serving
4as a member on the House Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice, the House
5Committee on Appropriations, the House Committee on Municipal, Parochial and Cultural
6Affairs, the House Committee on Ways and Means, the House Committee on Environment,
7the House Committee on Judiciary, the House Committee on Commerce, the Joint
8Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay, and the Joint Legislative Committee on the
9Budget; and
10 WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Representative Burrell
11has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation; and
12 WHEREAS, as he prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
13of his life, Representative Burrell merits a sincere measure of commendation for his singular
14contributions and the exemplary strides he has taken as an exceptional member of the
15Louisiana House of Representatives.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Roy A. Burrell; does hereby
18extend honor and recognition to him for his outstanding accomplishments, particularly
19during his tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which has been
20marked by his uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of his constituents in the
21parishes of Bossier and Caddo and the citizens of the state of Louisiana; does hereby pay
22tribute to him for the generous and effective way in which he has dedicated his intelligence
23and his energy to the service of his family, friends, community, and state.
24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
25expresses enduring gratitude to Representative Burrell for his service to the citizens of
26Louisiana, as evidenced by his superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished
27body, and hereby extends to him the best wishes of all his colleagues for continued
28prosperity and success in his future endeavors.
29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
30to the Honorable Roy A. Burrell.
