COMMENDATIONS:  Commends and expresses appreciation to the Honorable Austin J.
Badon, Jr., for his outstanding legislative service and recognizes his contributions
to his district and the state
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Honorable Austin J. Badon, Jr., and to express enduring gratitude for his
3 outstanding contributions to Orleans Parish and the state of Louisiana, particularly
4 during his tenure as a distinguished member of the Louisiana House of
5 Representatives.
6 WHEREAS, Austin Badon is a notable public servant who has served with
7excellence as a state representative since taking office in 2004, during which time he has
8fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of his district and the state in an honorable
9and dedicated manner; and
10 WHEREAS, he is a graduate of St. Augustine High School, the University of New
11Orleans, where he received a bachelor of arts degree, and Troy State University, where he
12received a master of arts degree; and

1 WHEREAS, Representative Badon has been a proud member of the Democratic
2Caucus, the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, and the Orleans Delegation; and
3 WHEREAS, Representative Badon's diligent committee service has included serving
4as the chairman of the House Committee on Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs and
5the House Committee on Education, vice chairman of the House Committee on Education
6and the House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works, and he has served
7as a member of the House Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice, the House
8Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations, the House Committee on Ways and Means,
9and the House Committee on Civil Law and Procedure; and
10 WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Representative Badon
11has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation including but not limited
12to consolidating to Orleans Parish assessors and increasing punishment for vehicular
13homicide; and
14 WHEREAS, as he prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
15of his life, Representative Badon merits a sincere measure of commendation for his singular
16contributions and the exemplary strides he has taken as an exceptional member of the
17Louisiana House of Representatives.
18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
19Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Austin J. Badon, Jr.; does
20hereby extend honor and recognition to him for his outstanding accomplishments,
21particularly during his tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which
22has been marked by his uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of his constituents
23in Orleans Parish and the citizens of the state of Louisiana; and does hereby pay tribute to
24him for the generous and effective way in which he has dedicated his intelligence and his
25energy to the service of his family, friends, community, and state.
26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
27expresses enduring gratitude to Representative Badon for his service to the citizens of
28Louisiana, as evidenced by his superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished
29body, and hereby extends to him the best wishes of all his colleagues for continued
30prosperity and success in his future endeavors.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
