SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Designates April 28, 2015, as FFA Day at the legislature
and commends the state officers of FFA
1 A RESOLUTION
2To designate April 28, 2015, as FFA Day at the legislature and to commend the state officers
3 of FFA.
4 WHEREAS, the national Future Farmers of America (FFA) organization prepares
5and trains students for leadership and professions in the science, business, and technology
6of agriculture in public schools throughout our nation; and
7 WHEREAS, the mission of the FFA organization is to make a positive difference in
8the lives of young people by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal
9growth, and career success through agricultural education; and
10 WHEREAS, the motto of the FFA organization, "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn,
11Earning to Live, Living to Serve", gives members words to live by as they experience the
12opportunities of the organization; and
13 WHEREAS, the national FFA organization consists of more than six hundred
14thousand members in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands; and
15 WHEREAS, the Louisiana membership of the FFA organization continues to be
16strongly represented by agricultural students in approximately one hundred eighty-five
17chapters throughout the state with nearly ten thousand members; and
18 WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives recognize the
19importance of agriculture to the economy of this state, as well as the importance of the
20education and training students receive through agricultural education programs that develop
21competent and assertive agricultural leadership.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate April 28, 2015, as FFA Day at the
3legislature.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature
5of Louisiana also recognizes and commends the 2014-2015 state FFA officers as follows:
6Christen Wall, president; Barrett Moore, vice president; Callie Crain, vice president; Taylor
7Ashworth, vice president; Kaleb Danos, vice president; Ashley Gotreaux, secretary; Maizy
8Rabalais, treasurer; Richard "Bubby" Mathis, reporter; Andrew Badeaux, sentinel; and Nikki
9Roofner, parliamentarian.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
11to the state president of the Louisiana chapter of the FFA organization.
