COMMENDATIONS: Commends and expresses appreciation to the Honorable Karen
Gaudet St. Germain for her outstanding legislative service and recognizes her
contributions to her district and the state
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Honorable Karen Gaudet St. Germain and to express enduring gratitude
3 for her outstanding contributions to the parishes of Ascension, Assumption, Iberville,
4 and West Baton Rouge and the state of Louisiana, particularly during her tenure as
5 a distinguished member of the Louisiana House of Representatives.
6 WHEREAS, Karen St. Germain is a notable public servant who has served with
7excellence as a state representative since taking office in 2004, during which time she has
8fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of her district and the state in an honorable
9and dedicated manner; and
10 WHEREAS, a graduate of Assumption High School, Representative St. Germain
11serves as the House chairwoman of the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus; and

1 WHEREAS, Representative St. Germain has been a proud member of the Acadiana
2Delegation, the Capital Region Legislative Delegation, the Democratic Caucus, and the
3Louisiana Rural Caucus; and
4 WHEREAS, Representative St. Germain's diligent committee service has included
5serving as the chairwoman of the House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public
6Works and the Atchafalaya Basin Program Oversight Committee and vice chairwoman of
7the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment; she has served as a member
8of the House Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture and Rural Development, the
9House Committee on Environment, the House Committee on Insurance, the House Executive
10Committee, the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, the Joint Legislative
11Committee on Capital Outlay, and the Joint Committee on Homeland Security; and
12 WHEREAS, during her time in the House of Representatives, Representative
13St. Germain has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation, including
14but not limited to legislation creating an annual sales tax holiday for the purchase of certain
15hurricane preparedness items; and
16 WHEREAS, as she prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
17of her life, Representative St. Germain merits a sincere measure of commendation for her
18singular contributions and the exemplary strides she has taken as an exceptional member of
19the Louisiana House of Representatives.
20 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
21Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Karen Gaudet St. Germain;
22does hereby extend honor and recognition to her for her outstanding accomplishments,
23particularly during her tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which
24has been marked by her uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of her
25constituents in the parishes of Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, and West Baton Rouge and
26the citizens of the state of Louisiana; and does hereby pay tribute to her for the generous and
27effective way in which she has dedicated her intelligence and her energy to the service of her
28family, friends, community, and state.
29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
30expresses enduring gratitude to Representative St. Germain for her service to the citizens of

1Louisiana, as evidenced by her superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished
2body, and hereby extends to her the best wishes of all her colleagues for continued prosperity
3and success in her future endeavors.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
5to the Honorable Karen Gaudet St. Germain.
