A RESOLUTION
To commend the Honorable Karen Gaudet St. Germain and to express enduring gratitude
for her outstanding contributions to the parishes of Ascension, Assumption, Iberville,
and West Baton Rouge and the state of Louisiana, particularly during her tenure as
a distinguished member of the Louisiana House of Representatives.
WHEREAS, Karen St. Germain is a notable public servant who has served with
excellence as a state representative since taking office in 2004, during which time she has
fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of her district and the state in an honorable
and dedicated manner; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of Assumption High School, Representative St. Germain
serves as the House chairwoman of the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus; and
WHEREAS, Representative St. Germain has been a proud member of the Acadiana
Delegation, the Capital Region Legislative Delegation, the Democratic Caucus, and the
Louisiana Rural Caucus; and
WHEREAS, Representative St. Germain's diligent committee service has included
serving as the chairwoman of the House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public
Works and the Atchafalaya Basin Program Oversight Committee and vice chairwoman of
the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment; she has served as a member

of the House Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture and Rural Development, the
House Committee on Environment, the House Committee on Insurance, the House Executive
Committee, the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, the Joint Legislative
Committee on Capital Outlay, and the Joint Committee on Homeland Security; and
WHEREAS, during her time in the House of Representatives, Representative
St. Germain has worked on and supported many important pieces of legislation, including
but not limited to legislation creating an annual sales tax holiday for the purchase of certain
hurricane preparedness items; and
WHEREAS, as she prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
of her life, Representative St. Germain merits a sincere measure of commendation for her
singular contributions and the exemplary strides she has taken as an exceptional member of
the Louisiana House of Representatives.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable Karen Gaudet St. Germain;
does hereby extend honor and recognition to her for her outstanding accomplishments,
particularly during her tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which
has been marked by her uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of her
constituents in the parishes of Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, and West Baton Rouge and
the citizens of the state of Louisiana; and does hereby pay tribute to her for the generous and
effective way in which she has dedicated her intelligence and her energy to the service of her
family, friends, community, and state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
expresses enduring gratitude to Representative St. Germain for her service to the citizens of
Louisiana, as evidenced by her superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished
body, and hereby extends to her the best wishes of all her colleagues for continued prosperity
and success in her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the Honorable Karen Gaudet St. Germain.
