COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Robert W. "Bobby" Welch upon his retirement as
president of The Dunham School in Baton Rouge and for more than 40 years of
service in the field of education
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend Robert W. "Bobby" Welch upon his retirement as president of The Dunham
3 School in Baton Rouge and for more than forty years of service in the field of
4 education.
5 WHEREAS, born on July 23, 1945, in Vaiden, Mississippi, Mr. Welch graduated
6from Forest Hill High School in Jackson, Mississippi; and
7 WHEREAS, he received a degree in business administration from William Carey
8University and a master of arts degree in education administration from the University of
9Louisiana at Monroe and performed his postgraduate studies at Harvard University, the
10University of West Florida, and Georgia Southern University; and
11 WHEREAS, he is a veteran of more than forty years in education, with thirty years
12of his experience in independent private schools in the southeastern United States; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Welch is active in the National Association of Independent Schools,
14the Southern Association of Independent Schools, and several other regional organizations;
15he has served as regional director, officer, and as a board member for many of these
16organizations; and
17 WHEREAS, he has also been a ten-year member of the Southern Association of
18Colleges and Schools; and
19 WHEREAS, he is the founder of the Louisiana Association of Independent Schools
20and currently serves as its executive director; and

1 WHEREAS, for the past ten years, Mr. Welch has served as headmaster and later as
2the president of The Dunham School in Baton Rouge; and
3 WHEREAS, under his exceptional leadership, The Dunham School has reached new
4heights in education and has won national acclaim as a Blue Ribbon School and as an Apple
5Distinguished School while continuing to maintain its academic philosophy of providing a
6Christian education that emphasizes not simply acquiring knowledge but attaining wisdom;
7and
8 WHEREAS, he has been married to the former Pamela Culler of High Point, North
9Carolina, for thirty-five years; and
10 WHEREAS, the couple has five children, Angela, Jeff, Amy, Kip, and Charles, and
11fifteen grandchildren, Millie, Annie, Ellie, Jack, Wils, Sam, Jena Kate, Charlotte, Cade,
12Olivia, Josh, Andrew, Molly, Charlie, and Hudson; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Welch is retiring from his position as president of The Dunham
14School on June 30, 2015, and he plans to continue building an education consulting company
15after his retirement.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Robert W. "Bobby" Welch upon his
18retirement as president of The Dunham School and does hereby commend him for over forty
19years of service in the field of education.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
21to Robert W. "Bobby" Welch.
