HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 34
BY REPRESENTATIVE HOWARD
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Anacoco High School boys' basketball team upon
winning its first Class B state championship
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Anacoco High School boys' basketball team upon winning its first state
3 championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Anacoco Indians captured the Class B title in a commanding 62-48
5victory over Midland High School in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Top 28
6tournament, giving the Anacoco boys' basketball team its first state championship; and
7 WHEREAS, Head Coach Tracy Reese prepared the Indians by instilling in the team
8a work ethic that will continue to provide the confidence and skills needed to equip these
9young men for success in the future; and
10 WHEREAS, junior guard/forward Will Reese rose to the occasion in the
11championship game by leading Anacoco with a game-high twenty-six points, nine rebounds,
12and two blocked shots and was voted Most Outstanding Player in Class B, and senior guard
13Samuel Turnipseed posted nineteen points and eight rebounds in the thrilling title game; and
14 WHEREAS, the decisive victory was a fitting end to a run of nineteen straight wins
15in the Indians' 32-10 season; and
16 WHEREAS, all members of the Anacoco High School boys' basketball team deserve
17recognition for outstanding performances throughout the year: seniors Samuel Turnipseed,
18Casey Haymon, Will Schrieber, Bret Phillips, Aaron Norris, Dakota Moore, Austin
19Williams, and Kade Hornsby; juniors Will Reese and Caleb Reese; sophomores Brent Cosio,
20Hunter McCrary, and Trace Goins; freshmen Cole Moore and Julian Cecil; coaches Tracy
21Reese and Brad Prichard; managers Karlie Robison and Kellen Haymon; trainer Tristan
22Nicholas; and statistician Jordan Toney; and

1 WHEREAS, the 2015 Anacoco High School boys' basketball team brings a
2tremendous sense of honor and immense pride to its school and community and the state of
3Louisiana, and it is appropriate to commend these champions upon winning their first state
4title.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
6Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the Anacoco High School
7boys' basketball team athletes, coaches, and support staff upon winning the 2015 Class B
8state championship at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Top 28 tournament
9and for completing a successful 2014-2015 season that exemplifies the dedicated
10performances of all the individuals involved in this fine program.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
12to Head Coach Tracy Reese.
