HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 43
BY REPRESENTATIVE PRICE
A RESOLUTION
To commend BASF upon its one hundred fiftieth year anniversary.
WHEREAS, BASF is the world's leading chemical company by sales; and
WHEREAS, BASF has had a presence in Louisiana for nearly sixty years and has
four facilities in the state, including its largest manufacturing facility in North America,
located in Geismar; and
WHEREAS, BASF is a world class chemical manufacturer whose Louisiana plants
make a wide range of chemicals that are used in hundreds of everyday consumer items:
furniture, bedding, automobile packaging, plastics, pharmaceuticals, electronics, agricultural
materials, and batteries are among the products produced in the state; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana BASF sites employ approximately two thousand employees
who contribute to the economy and well being of the communities where they live and work;
BASF and its employees support local businesses, charities, and nonprofit organizations; and
WHEREAS, BASF is active in education and workforce development in Louisiana
through involvement in local, state, and federal initiatives to foster relationships with
institutions from prekindergarten to college, building a pipeline of potential employees and
ensuring that future professionals succeed; and
WHEREAS, historically, chemistry has been an enabler for new ideas and solutions,
and BASF's corporate purpose statement is, "We create chemistry for a sustainable future";
and
WHEREAS, BASF is celebrating its one hundred fiftieth anniversary in 2015 with
a focus on its "We create chemistry" strategy to address global challenges in urban living,
smart energy, and food; and

WHEREAS, BASF sites in Louisiana are contributing solutions to addressing these
and other challenges that face local communities and the world; and
WHEREAS, BASF's corporate priority is to connect people and ideas to make lasting
contributions to society, and BASF has pledged to use what it learns in its anniversary year
for the benefit of society.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend best wishes and congratulations to BASF on
its one hundred fiftieth anniversary, and does hereby express sincere hopes for its continued
success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to BASF Corporation headquarters in Florham Park, New Jersey.
