HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 52
BY REPRESENTATIVES BILLIOT AND LEOPOLD
A RESOLUTION
To commend Eileen Barthe upon her retirement from United Way in Plaquemines Parish.
WHEREAS, Eileen Barthe is recognized as the face of United Way in Plaquemines
Parish; and
WHEREAS, for fifteen years, she has served as United Way of southeast Louisiana's
resource development director; and
WHEREAS, "Miss Eileen" is recognized for her smile and cheerful and determined
attitude as she serves the people in Plaquemines Parish; and
WHEREAS, in 1977, she began a career at Chevron, where she was one of the first
women to work in a petrochemical plant; while at Chevron, she volunteered to be a United
Way campaign coordinator, and for eighteen years, she educated the company's staff on the
needs of the community and how United Way supports programs that help people of all ages
and from all walks of life; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Barthe will be remembered for her passion to help others through
the United Way in Plaquemines Parish; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Barthe merits a special measure of commendation as she retires
from the United Way in Plaquemines Parish and begins the next chapter in her life.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Eileen Barthe upon her retirement as the
resource development director for United Way of southeast Louisiana; does hereby
recognize and record for posterity her outstanding accomplishments and manifold
contributions; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that she
brings to her family, friends, and community, her colleagues at United Way in Plaquemines
Parish, and the state of Louisiana.
