SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes Wednesday, April 29, 2015, as LMA
Municipal Day at the state capitol
1 A RESOLUTION
2To recognize Wednesday, April 29, 2015, as LMA Municipal Day at the Louisiana State
3 Capitol.
4 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Municipal Association (LMA) was founded in 1926 as
5a nonprofit 501(c)4 organization serving as a unified voice for Louisiana's municipal
6governments; and
7 WHEREAS, the LMA is a statewide member organization that advocates on behalf
8of three hundred three municipalities and two parishes; and
9 WHEREAS, the LMA also includes five subsidiaries: Risk Management, Inc.,
10Louisiana Municipal Advisory and Technical Services Bureau (LaMATS), Louisiana
11Municipal Gas Authority, Louisiana Community Development Authority, and Louisiana
12Municipal Association of Unemployment Compensation Program; and
13 WHEREAS, the LMA encompasses six affiliate entities: the Louisiana Association
14of Tax Administrators, Louisiana Recreation and Parks Association, Louisiana City
15Attorneys Association, Louisiana Municipal Clerks Association, Louisiana Association of
16Municipal Secretaries and Assistants, and Building Officials Association of Louisiana; and
17 WHEREAS, representation from the advisory entities and from the Municipal
18Employees Retirement System of Louisiana, the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association, the
19Louisiana Airport Managers and Associates, the Louisiana Conference of Mayors, the
20Louisiana Municipal Black Caucus Association, and the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of
21Police is included on the LMA board of directors; and

1 WHEREAS, the mission of the LMA is to advocate, educate, and empower local
2governments to serve the citizens of Louisiana efficiently and effectively; and
3 WHEREAS, the LMA provides numerous programs and services to its member
4municipalities, including conferences and training, LaMATS's sponsored Delinquent
5Property Tax and Insurance Premium Tax Programs, Computer Information Technology
6Assistance Program, and webinars; and
7 WHEREAS, the LMA continues to promote local governments by shaping
8legislation, providing education on municipal issues, and exchanging ideas and experiences
9among elected officials throughout the state; and
10 WHEREAS, on April 29, 2015, the LMA hosts its Annual LMA Municipal Day and
11Legislative Conference celebrating all municipal officials and employees for their dedication
12to public service.
13 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
14Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize April 29, 2015, as LMA Municipal Day at
15the Louisiana State Capitol.
