HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 57

A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Johnquaries
Malque Smith.
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the death of Johnquaries Malque Smith
on August 27, 2014, at the age of eighteen; and
WHEREAS, Johnquaries Malque Smith was born on August 1, 1996, in
Natchitoches, Louisiana, to John Tyree and the late Alisa Ann Smith; and
WHEREAS, Johnquaries accepted Christ at an early age as a member of St. Mark
Baptist Church in Allen, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, he was a senior at Natchitoches Central High School and an active
member of the Natchitoches Central Chiefs football team and soccer team; and
WHEREAS, Johnquaries was a positive role model and left an impression on
everyone he met; and
WHEREAS, Johnquaries Malque Smith will forever be remembered for his optimism
and generosity; and
WHEREAS, although the death of Johnquaries Malque Smith has left a tremendous
void in his community, his memory shall forever remain in the minds and hearts of all who
knew and loved this extraordinary man.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
death of Johnquaries Malque Smith and does hereby recognize and record for posterity the

tremendous joy and pride he will forever bring to his family, friends, school, community,
and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Johnquaries Malque Smith.
