HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 59
BY REPRESENTATIVES ARNOLD, BARRAS, BERTHELOT, AND JAY MORRIS
A RESOLUTION
To designate Tuesday, May 5, 2015, as Bankers Day at the state capitol.
WHEREAS, since 1900, the Louisiana Bankers Association (LBA) has diligently
represented the interests of banks and thrifts operating in the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, LBA is a member-driven organization with a Government Relations
Council that includes representation from all members; such representation assists the LBA's
Board of Directors in the development of the association's positions regarding important
banking issues; and
WHEREAS, LBA's current membership is comprised of one hundred forty-one banks
and thrifts, which includes both state and federal charters and small and large institutions;
LBA's membership is primarily comprised of locally based community banks; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana bankers are deeply committed and involved in the
communities they serve and are essential for economic development and helping customers
achieve their goals; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana bankers also exhibit such commitment to the LBA and are
responsible for its success over the years; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the LBA is to help banks that operate in the state grow
and prosper by focusing on government relations and education; and
WHEREAS, LBA's state government relations efforts include drafting legislation,
supporting and opposing legislation, testifying before legislative committees, and building
constructive coalitions with other industry groups; and
WHEREAS, LBA also works closely with the Louisiana Congressional Delegation
and banking regulators; and

WHEREAS, the Louisiana Bankers Education Foundation is a subsidiary of the LBA
and exists to promote banking and financial literacy in Louisiana; this subsidiary offers a
wide variety of services to meet members' specific training needs, including seminars,
conferences, in-house programs, educational products, and online classes; and
WHEREAS, thousands of bankers attend LBA's workshops and conferences each
year; and
WHEREAS, on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, the LBA is hosting its annual Bankers Day
at the state capitol with numerous bankers from the state of Louisiana in attendance.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Tuesday, May 5, 2015, as Bankers Day at
the state capitol and does hereby recognize the extraordinary efforts and contributions of the
Louisiana Bankers Association.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the chief executive officer of the Louisiana Bankers Association.
