COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Riverside Academy High School boys' basketball
team upon winning their third consecutive Class 2A state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Riverside Academy High School boys' basketball team upon winning their
3 third consecutive Class 2A state championship and to congratulate the Riverside
4 Academy Runnin' Rebels on an outstanding 2014-2015 season.
5 WHEREAS, the Riverside Academy High School boys' basketball team has ascended
6to a place of prominence in the ranks of Louisiana high school basketball by winning the
7Class 2A state championship title in three consecutive years; and
8 WHEREAS, the 2014-2015 Runnin' Rebels' basketball season was nothing short of
9sensational when the Rebels ran past the Lakeview Gators on Saturday, March 14, 2015, in
10the state championship game to capture an 85-60 victory; and
11 WHEREAS, the Rebels were led by senior Jordan Andrews, the game's most
12valuable player, who finished with a game-high of nineteen points; freshman Jared Butler,
13junior Herbert McGee, junior Malik Crowfield, and senior Charvon Julien rounded out
14Riverside Academy's double-digit scorers; and
15 WHEREAS, the 2015 Class 2A state championship is the twelfth state championship
16win for head coach, Timmy Byrd, and Riverside Academy is the first team in the state of
17Louisiana to win three consecutive state championships since 2008; and
18 WHEREAS, the 2015 championship title was earned with the incredible talent and
19effort of the team's coaching staff and members who participated in the championship game;

1 WHEREAS, the 2014-2015 team members and coaching staff merit recognition and
2congratulations for their outstanding performance and competitive spirit that has lead them
3to capture a third Class 2A state championship; among those coaches and members are head
4coach Timmy Byrd, assistant coaches Kevin Branch and Mike Sutton, members Joe
5Anderson, Jordan Andrews, Jalen Banks, LeBoe Bridges, Jared Butler, Darrion Cook, Malik
6Crowfield, Richie George, Charvon Julien, Kendall Martin, Herbert McGee, Garland
7Robertson, and Jake Venus; and
8 WHEREAS, the Louisiana House of Representatives wishes to recognize the three-
9time state champion Runnin' Rebels and commends the entire team for the extraordinary
10ability they have displayed at this difficult level of competition for three consecutive years,
11and to express sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the team members and coaching staff
12for the merits earned and the sportsmanship shown while achieving this high honor for their
13school and local community.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
15Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Riverside Academy High School boys'
16basketball team upon its memorable and historic victory in the 2015 Class 2A state
17championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone
18involved with this prestigious basketball program as they celebrate their outstanding
19achievements and prepare for continued success in the future.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
21to Timmy Byrd, head coach of the Runnin' Rebels basketball team.
