SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH:  Designates Tuesday, May 5, 2015, as AARP Louisiana
Caregiver Day at the state capitol
1	A RESOLUTION
2To designate Tuesday May 5, 2015, as AARP Louisiana Caregiver Day at the state capitol.
3 WHEREAS, Louisiana ranks thirty-seventh in the nation for support of unpaid family
4caregivers; and
5 WHEREAS, an estimated six hundred twenty-seven thousand family caregivers in
6Louisiana provide care to adult relatives or friends, with the economic value of this care
7estimated to be roughly five billion seven hundred million dollars annually; and
8 WHEREAS, almost all older adults who need assistance with activities of daily
9living wish to remain in their homes and communities as they age; and
10 WHEREAS, almost three-fourths of older people living in a community who receive
11personal assistance rely exclusively on unpaid caregivers for help.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
13Legislature of Louisiana does hereby  designate Tuesday May 5, 2015, as AARP Louisiana
14Caregiver Day at the state capitol.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
16to Andrew Muhl, director of advocacy at AARP Louisiana.
