HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 66
BY REPRESENTATIVES SEABAUGH, BURFORD, BURRELL, AND CARMODY
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Benjamin Maxey on earning the perfect ACT score and
being selected as Louisiana Nonpublic School Student of the Year
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend Benjamin Maxey upon earning the highly coveted perfect ACT score of thirty-
3 six and being selected as Louisiana Nonpublic School Student of the Year.
4 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Louisiana House of Representatives
5recognizes the energy, intelligence, and self-motivation of Ben Maxey, a true leader and role
6model among his peers; and
7 WHEREAS, Benjamin Maxey is a Loyola College Prep student; his dedication to
8academic achievement and drive to do his best at all times are evident in his perfect ACT
9score and grade point average and his selection as Louisiana Nonpublic School Student of
10the Year; and
11 WHEREAS, more than 1.9 million students in the United States took the ACT in
122013 and less than one-tenth of one percent scored a perfect thirty-six; and
13 WHEREAS, in the state of Louisiana, only twenty-one out of over forty-nine
14thousand students earned a perfect score; and
15 WHEREAS, in addition to his perfect ACT score and his selection as Louisiana
16Nonpublic School Student of the Year, Ben Maxey won first place in the District Literary
17Rally in Biology I, Biology II, Algebra II, Pre-calculus, and Physics, and he also won first
18place in the State Literary Rally in Biology I-Division III, Biology II-Overall, and Physics-
19Division III, and received an excellent rating in Spanish IV Extemporaneous Speaking; and

1 WHEREAS, Ben also received first place in the Louisiana Association of Student
2Councils' Essay Contest and second place in the District and State National History Day
3Competitions; and
4 WHEREAS, he was selected as Loyola College Prep's Flyer of the Year, which is the
5most prestigious award bestowed by the faculty to the senior student who reflects the
6school's motto, "a man for others"; and
7 WHEREAS, Ben is a member of numerous school associations and clubs, some of
8which include serving as the student body president for the Student Government
9Association, vice president of the National Honor Society, co-founder and president of the
10Technology Club, and team captain and president of the Science Bowl Club; and
11 WHEREAS, in addition to his academic excellence, Ben enjoys playing the piano,
12pipe organ, and tennis; he also spent time tutoring children in his community and
13volunteering at Providence House's Child Development Center; and
14 WHEREAS, Ben Maxey is a truly talented Louisiana student who demonstrates
15outstanding academic excellence that is commendable.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Benjamin Maxey upon earning the highly
18coveted perfect ACT score of thirty-six and being selected as the Louisiana Nonpublic
19School Student of the Year; does hereby recognize and record for posterity his remarkable
20academic success; and does hereby wish Ben full measures of success and happiness in his
21future.
22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
23to Benjamin Maxey.
