COMMENDATIONS: Commends Selena Augustine Larry Anderson upon the celebration
of her 105th birthday
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Selena Augustine Larry Anderson upon the celebration of her one hundred
3 fifth birthday.
4 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Selena Augustine Larry Anderson upon
5the memorable occasion of her one hundred fifth birthday; and
6 WHEREAS, on June 11, 1910, Selena was born to Elizabeth Jones-Johnson and Paul
7Augustine in Long Bridge, Louisiana; she is the youngest of thirteen children; and
8 WHEREAS when Selena was eleven years old, her family moved to Glenmora,
9Louisiana, where she continues to reside today; and
10 WHEREAS in 1929, she married Oscar Larry, and this marriage lasted for fourteen
11years until he passed away in 1943, and
12 WHEREAS on April 18, 1950, she married Elijah Anderson, and this marriage lasted
13for thirty-seven years until he passed away in 1987; and
14 WHEREAS, Ms. Anderson is a loving and devoted mother and grandmother; she has
15been blessed with one son, two daughters, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and
16four great-great grandchildren; she also raised two foster daughters; and
17 WHEREAS, she worked on her family farm and clerked in the family store; she has
18been an active member of Grover Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church since her
19marriage in 1950; and
20 WHEREAS, Ms. Anderson is truly a dynamic woman who is an inspiration to all;

1 WHEREAS, Selena Augustine Larry Anderson merits a special measure of
2commendation for the tremendous pride and honor that she brings to her family, friends,
3community, church, and the state of Louisiana.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
5Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Selena Augustine Larry Anderson upon the
6memorable and historic occasion of her one hundred fifth birthday; does hereby recognize
7and record for posterity the extraordinary life she has lived in the one hundred five years
8since her birth; does hereby extend enduring gratitude for the contributions she has made to
9her community and her family; and does hereby wish her full measures of health and
10happiness in the years to come.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
12to Selena Augustine Larry Anderson.
